The Victorian era, which spanned more than six decades, was named after Queen Victoria, who was the ultimate beacon of fashion during her time. Since the Victorian era was so long, it’s often broken into three distinct periods. All of them featured deeply symbolic adornment and diamonds were a popular choice that represented love, friendship and adoration. Intimate sentiments such as these were easier said with gems than words, given the conservative nature of society.
Diamonds were also beloved during Victorian times because they’re perfect for crafting intricate designs, like this spectacular ring. Rows of old mine cut mamas create a fascinating design that is at once soft and rounded as well as angular and geometric.
She is fabricated in 18K gold and silver, which might seem like a strange combination of materials. But silver was frequently used alongside diamonds, as Victorian jewelers thought the white silver made the whiteness of the diamond more pronounced. This ring features an amazing design and serves as the perfect illustration of master craftsmanship of the time.
