One reason that we are so enchanted by antique old mine cut diamonds is that there will never be two of the same. In 18th century Europe, lapidarists would create old miners by grinding two diamonds together to create the shape. A polisher would then perfect the facet pattern, each entirely unique. This handmade nature of the stone makes them exude individuality and evoke the past.
This Georgian Era half loop boasts an array of the most special old mine cut diamonds we have come across. Two rows (!!) of old miners are expertly placed side by side creating a ton of old world dazzle. Each stone has a thin slice of foil place between the diamond and the setting. Though foil backed stones were common practice during the Georgian Era, they are increasingly harder to find centuries later. The effect the foil gives these particular old mine cut diamonds is pure beauty, historical significance, and an unequivocal one of a kind feel.
