Diamonds have loomed large in our collective psyche for millenia, giving humankind the opportunity to weave tales and legends featuring the incredible stone. 

Many stories come from India, including the legend of the Valley of Diamonds. Lore says that Alexander the Great came across a valley guarded by countless snakes. Alexander used mirrors to scare the snakes away with their own reflection. It worked. But ever wary of danger, he still didn’t want to venture down into the valley itself. He hatched a new plan after noticing a great many eagles in the area. He hoisted mutton down onto the diamond strewn valley floor. The diamonds stuck to the meat and when eagles flew down to retrieve the hunks of mutton, they were peppered with massive, gorgeous diamonds.
