An absolute bullseye! This Georgian princess is arresting with intricate designs, beautiful stones, and excellent craftsmanship.

People have been shooting at targets for thousands of years. Archery contests took place in China more than 3,000 years ago and Native Americans had bows and arrows around 500 A.D. But the modern version of target archery probably originated in England during the 14th century. It makes sense that Georgian jewelers, many of whom were from the British Isles, channeled a quintessentially English sport. Archery was important to the Brits as evidenced by a royal decree from 1363 that required all Englishmen to practice archery on Sundays and holidays—whether they wanted to or not.

That foil-backed, high-top rose cut centerstone is everything, ringed with two wondrous rows of diamonds and rubies. But the secret winner is that phenomenal hand engraved underside, which means that this ring really hits the mark.
