This wavy mama features an absolutely amazing boulder opal surrounded by rose-cut diamonds.  

Opals are a special kind of mineral. They formed eons ago when silica and water found its way into rock fissures and then hardened into stone. Boulder opals specifically form in thin veins of ironstone or a similar rock. The resulting pieces of boulder opal have incredibly unique and interesting patterns thanks in large part to its host stone. 

Many factors influence the appearance of a boulder opal. The colors are dictated by microscopic silica spheres: their size and density, the angle at which they are trapped, and the way light refracts—among a number of other critical factors. 

This hunk of handsome seems to have been very blessed by the silica gods. Those blues are deep and mesmerizing. The stone itself has surface inclusions due to mineral composition. She’s set and ready in a beautiful bezel surrounded by 1.00ctw of rose cut cuties. With a lovely shank design to mirror the interesting swoopy line of diamonds, this ring is a fine vintage vixen.
