What You Should Know: Pendant is a converted from an antique brooch.

In Ancient Greek there is the somewhat sad story of Hyakinthos, but hear us out- it has a beautiful ending. Hyakinthos was a young Greek hero who had the heart of none other than the god Apollo. Hyakinthos and Apollo would often throw the discus, as young lovers do. Unfortunately, Zephyros, the god who controlled the wind, was also intrigued by young Hyakinthos, and sabotaged their relationship. During a friendly game of throwing the discus, he used his powers of the wind to push it off course and in result, our beloved Hyakinthos died. When Apollo realized that Hyakinthos died, he refused to let Hades, the god of the underworld, claim him, and instead turned his body into a flower. Apollo’s tears stained the flowers petals an array of beautiful colors.

When we learned of this story, we were reminded that the Ancient Greeks also believed that diamonds were made from their gods’ tears. So the flower that Apollo turned Hyakinthos had petals made out of diamonds. That was our inspiration when converting a component of a Georgian piece into this pretty pendant. A diamond flower twinkling in the light, fit for a god or goddess.
