It’s no secret we love a good locket. It seems like it has become a wardrobe staple now a days. But this isn’t a recent trend, in fact locket designs in jewelry date back to the 1500’s!

Queen Elizabeth I  wore a locket ring every single day that had a hidden miniature of her mother, Anne Boleyn. She was known to be pretty consistent in her gift giving, as several people close to her received a locket containing her own portrait inside.

Later, during the Victorian Era, lockets were the end all be all when it came to pendant jewelry. This craze was most likely in result of a present from Prince Albert to Queen Victoria, a bracelet with 8 lockets representing their 8 children. After his death, the Queen wore a golden locket around her neck. Inside was lock of his hair and his photograph. Anything that Queen Victoria loved, the Victorians loved, and this meant everyone needed a new locket. Lucky for us because now we have this antique beauty.

This Victorian locket is a beautiful shade of rosy gold. While there are several 19th century lockets still in existence, this one is extra special because of the adorable stone choices. A teardrop shaped ruby is crowned by a tiny white diamond. We love the unusual shape combination making this a unique and one of a kind locket. Pretty and ready for a picture.
