In 1828, a twenty volume account entitled Description de l'Égypte was published in its entirety. This publication was completed by the 160 French scientists, scholars, and archeologists Napoleon Bonaparte had brought to Egypt in the early 19th century. They sought to learn everything there was to know about ancient and modern Egypt and their work inspired many to make the journey to the exotic land.

With a new interest in Egypt due to their findings and excavations, as well as advancements in railway travel in the mid 1800’s, there was a surge of tourism in Egypt. And since ladies and gentlemen of the Victorian Era required a memento of their travels, Egyptian themed souvenir jewelry was the perfect talisman.

This incredible Victorian ring was originally someone’s treasured souvenir from a trip to Egypt. Hand engraved classic themes, such the pyramids, encircle the band creating an unforgettable Egyptian skyline. We love the rich buttery gold and width of this ring, and the stories of travel it could reveal.
