Snakes. While most dislike them in real life, almost everyone can agree that they make incredible jewelry, and they kind of always have. Ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Hindus, you name it, all adorned themselves with carved snake themed jewelry, and all had their slightly varied meaning behind the ancient symbol.

One of our favorite stories about the importance of snakes in cultural belief is from the Hopi people of North America. Every year, an annual snake dance was performed celebrating the union of a sky spirit and an underworld spirit. Live snakes were handled during the ritual (scary!), and then released into the fields. Apparently, this guaranteed agood crop that season, and blessed the tribe with fertility.

Other associations with snakes throughout healing are rebirth, eternal love, healing, energy, feminine power, protection, and wisdom. During the Victorian era, every jewelry lover had at least one snake piece in their collection. This awesome 19th century ring wraps around the finger a few times, and is set with five sparkling rose cut diamonds. A perfect ring for everyday wear, to remind yourself of unending love, knowledge, and capability, and kind of just plain badassness.
