Cast from the seal of an Italian wax seal desk set, ca. 1840. Once side displays a bouquet of flowers (swoon) and states, "Per voi/ For you." This is a common motif that has been seen in many English and French seal sets from the same time period. Sent to a close friend or amour, this little bouquet - stamped in wax - would have symbolized all of the sweetness and romance (softness, perfume, etc.) of the real thing. (Swoon x2)

The other side reads, "non cambio che dopo morte," which means "I change only in death / I am steadfast until death." Displaying an aspen leaf at the center. A reassurance that, despite distance, love and friendship can remain strong. This would have been another seal used on correspondence between close friends, lovers, or husband and wife.

"Everything about antiques and jewelry suits me perfectly. I was a total rock hound as a kid and I studied archaeology in college. I love material culture and the Cachet Collection - a captivating range of reversible, antique wax seal jewelry - is my serenade to Victoriana.

The Victorians used wax seals to stamp all of their correspondence and the choice of which seal to use was intensely personal and powerful. The seal was the first thing that the reader would see - a preview to what was written inside. News of a death required a somber seal with a phrase of comfort, a "billet doux" to a lover something tender or playful, and a business contract perhaps just stamped with the day of the week.

With the Cachet Collection, antique wax seals become wearable "objets d'art": small reminders of the big sentiments that rule us all. The messages and images on the seals are timeless, carrying just as much meaning for the modern woman as they did for the Victorians almost two centuries ago. Cast from original artifacts, hand-finished with love, and designed to be worn every day."
