While maybe not the greatest love story of them all (ahem, kidnapping allegations), there is no ignoring the Ancient Greek legend of Hades and Persephone. Persephone was the daughter of Zeus, and loved nothing more than nature, and frolicking through fields of flower and being the boho goddess she was meant to be. Hades fell in love with her, and took her down to the underworld to give it that woman’s touch it probably desperately needed. So depressed at the lack of sunlight, Persephone refused to eat anything except a single pomegranate seed. She eventually was able to travel back and forth so she can be part time spring time smiley goddess, and part time ruler of the underworld. Sounds like a good balance.

Since then, pomegranate seeds have been a symbol of love and eternity, especially when apart. The word “garnet” is derived from the latin word for seed like, referring to pomegranate seeds. So in result, garnets came to represent a cure for depression, and a tangible bond of long distant lovers. In the late 18th century, people wore garnets to represent their undying love for their traveling partners, and let everyone else know that despite them showing up solo to balls, they were spoken for.

This Georgian necklace has six pomegranate colored garnets in the shape of a sweet flower that shine against a 15k setting and chain. We think it is the perfect everyday necklace to make you feel like the goddess that you are.
