In Burmese history , there is a story of a blonde hair, blue eyed, bombshell of a goddess named Tsun-Kyan Kse who hung out at a temple where Mun-Ha, a devoted monk, frequently meditated and prayed to the goddess. Mun-Ha had a trusty pet cat named Sinh who he would bring along with him to the temple. One day, outlaws rushed the temple and threw Mun-Ha to the floor. Sinh hissed and scratched his way to his owner and stood on his chest to protect him from the marauders. This scared them pretty bad, fairly so, and they fled the scene. The goddess witnessed this all, and awarded the cat with her beautiful sapphire eyes for his good doing. This was the first time sapphires were to belong to a mortal being. The temple still stands, and there are cats with bright blue eyes all over the grounds.

This necklace probably was not a goddess’s or even a cat’s eye, but it makes sense that sapphires represent truth, sincerity, and faithfulness. Shout out to Sinh for giving us access to one of our forever favorite stones.
