Here at The One I Love, there is a weakness for bad boys, and these Roman Soldiers sure have caught our attention.

Hematite is derived from the Greek word haima, which means blood. This stone, even though a glossy black/gray, has the color of a deep dark red when it's crushed. Warriors varying from early Romans to Native Americans would grind these stones and smear their bodies with the ochre from the red powder. (We volunteer!) Believing that they would absorb the stones power for vitality, bravery and endurance, they would ride into battle fearlessly. They also believed that this stone would help them heal quickly, as hematite has a tendency to fill its own scratches when rubbed.

Myth states that where large gruesome battles were fought and blood was spilled, the ground would be littered with hematite. It's only fitting that these soldiers are forever preserved in hematite, and even more so that you rock them on your bad ass warrior self.
