The Georgian Era, named for Kings George I, II, III, and IV of England, was defined by handcrafted jewelry, regality, and courtship rituals. But while Jane Austen’s time may have passed, the pieces that remain capture a simpler time (if you don’t include the political upheaval, the wars, and the wigs).

During this time, from 1714 to 1830, diamonds were favored for their brilliance and settings were designed around the shape of the stones. Today it is almost impossible to find pieces from this era, as they were usually repurposed into other, more modern styles. But look! There’s a piece of Georgian Diamond jewelry right up there!
