The late Victorian Era was a mega game changer for women. All of a sudden they were working in positions that before only men were able to occupy. Single women were living on their own, going out to socialize in bars and such. On top of that a law was passed in 1870 allowing women to keep 100% of what they earned in the workplace without a trustee or guardian to manage it (woah, hold the phone we can keep our own money without a man telling us what do do? *enter eye roll here*).

With all of this feminine freedom going on, jewelry sales were on an all time high. Gone were the days when all of the jewelry you wore had been bestowed on you by an admirer or husband, and lets face it, we all know those poor dudes need some guidance for the most part. Women were buying elegant and simple jewelry for everyday wear, and boat styles were prevalent. This style was a symbol of working hard and still keeping elegant, on your own terms.

Rock this baby proud as a testament to all of the women before us who fought for our freedoms to have fun, get tipsy and kick some ass in the work game!
