Oh, you're one of those who believes that Opals are bad luck? Well, knock it off and get on this opulent opal order. We are going to let you in on whats what about this fiery finery.

In 1829, Sir Walter Scott wrote a novel in which one of the characters Hermione is believed to be a witch. She wears a beautiful opal in her hair, which would sparkle and shine when she was pleased and flash like fire when she was angry. To prove that she was a witch, some dude at a party splashes holy water on her hair (rude) and in effect the opal started smoking. In the morning Hermione was nothing but a pile of ash in her bed with the opal sparkling in the middle of it all.

Even though this novel was a work of fiction, Opal sales dropped 50% almost immediately. FIFTY. It wasn't until our favorite + fearless Queen Victoria scoffed at all of the superstition and started wearing opals for all of the world to see that the market skyrocketed back into action. She even went so far as to gift each of her daughters with grand opals for their wedding days to bless their unions.

Long story short, opals are straight badass. From igniting superstition to sparking a Queen in defending their honor...these gems are worthy of being shown off every chance we can.
