There’s a reason why artists strive to reach platinum status, and it isn’t because silver works better than gold in interior design schemes. Platinum has a long history of prestige and exclusivity, but the precious metal is actually more white than silver. The Spanish first discovered the metal around 1557, but thought of it as an impurity in gold. The first known account of platinum described it as a metal “which no fire nor any Spanish artifice has yet been able to liquefy," inspiring its association with indestructibility.

Even though it’s a newly discovered metal, platinum has proven that, like whatever you choose to be represented by this ring, it’s here to stay.
