What You Should Know: Setting is open backed. Shank is inspired by a Victorian era band. Emerald is Colombian.

During the Georgian Era, there were unwritten rules when it came to jewelry design. Diamonds were set in silver and colored gemstones were destined for gold. It was believed that silver promoted the natural beauty of a white diamond, increasing the amount of sparkle it could emit. Colored gemstones like rubies, garnets, and emeralds were most frequently positioned in gold to compliment the warmness. Luckily, the necklace which bore our Georgian Emerald and Diamond Collection features both examples of 18th century styling. We decided to showcase this antique detail by converting some of the pieces into rings.

Each ring features a table cut emerald in a high carat gold collet setting. Surrounding each vivid green stone are eight old mine cut white diamonds in silver collet settings. Collet settings are rubbed over metal that perfectly fit the intended stone and then either crimped around the edges or cut down to give the illusion of prongs. The old mine cut diamonds are uniquely spaced between each other, connected by feminine scrolling metalwork. This classic Georgian detail paired with the contrast of gemstones and their coordinating metals is simply beautiful. We’ve added a solid gold modern yet Victorian inspired shank to each component, updating and elevating each element. One necklace, now many rings, dispersing its worth to many more.
