With descriptions given to us from novels like Pride and Prejudice and Mansfield Park, it’s easy to romanticize the Georgian Era. Not to mention all the things Lord Byron and Williams Wordsworth had to say. In fact, there were so many artististic movements and ideas stirring around about emotions and individualism, that two decades of the Georgian Era are described as the Romantic Period.

It was a direct response to the the Industrial Revolution- creators wanting to not forget the core of their person and where they belong in nature. And as always, any major development in the musical, literary, architectural, and fine arts worlds had a great impact on jewelry. “Romantic” is the perfect word to describe works of wearable art created in the late 18th century. Heavily inspired by the natural world, without rules and a sense of freeform silhouettes, and just plain pretty, Georgian Romantic pieces are to die for. Like this pendant we converted from a brooch. Dazzling mine cut diamond in a pendeloque shape strung onto a modern gold chain. Extremely elegant and sophisticated, and dripping in romance.
