In 1925, the French government put on an event unlike any other- the Paris Exhibition. It was a world’s fair devoted to showcasing style moderne. There of course had been massive shows to feature the fine arts but the decorative arts had always been placed second. The Paris Exhibition would do the exact opposite. Architecture, furniture, interior design, jewelry, and other decorative arts would be the main attraction of this seven month long extravaganza.

On the banks of Seine, over 15,000 artisans from over twenty countries set up to show off the new style that was sweeping the world. Seen by 16 million guests, this “style moderne” would later be referred to as Art Deco- a nod back to the events name, Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Moderne. A large portion of the fair was dedicated to jewelry. The jewelry was taking a turn away from the fluid lines of Art Nouveau and was looking towards the geometric roots of design. It was all about Cubism and Futurism, and jewelry was the favorite medium to do so.

This gorgeous diamond band hails from the exact same decade the Paris Exhibition took place. Set in platinum, which was the metal of choice at the time, are several bright white diamonds. Eternity bands symbolize everlasting love, with no beginning or end, a beautiful (and sparkly!) concept. We think this would make a lovely wedding band as it would gorgeously compliment any ring.
